When people think of the Coffee Connection on Sunday mornings at Cape Cod Church, the names Tom and Barbara Manchester don’t immediately spring to mind, however they should. They are the inspiration for serving Dunkin’ Donuts coffee: Tom is a marketing director at Dunkin’ Donuts in Canton. As eager as he is about “running on Dunkin’,” he and his wife are even more enthusiastic about sharing in the Cape Cod Church community.

They were lead to Cape Cod Church after spending almost five decades in another local church. Tom says, “We truly believe God has led us to Cape Cod church versus us finding it by chance. The entire community of the church has been a blessing in our lives. From the people we meet and worship with every Sunday, to the leaders and music that God uses to reveal Himself to us each week. Everyone we have met is here for the right reasons; to further grow their lives in Christ, and reflect His glory to those around them. We have never seen a body of believers and leaders so excited about God and committed to Christ in such an exciting and positive manner.”

It was that excitement that lead them to participate in the Living Fully … Moving By Faith campaign. While at first the decision to participate was tough, after much prayer and family discussion, God led them to not only participate financially but to also serve on the campaign committee. Tom explains, “We were so busy in our lives with family and work obligations, that we gave Pastor Feldott every reason in the book why we did not have the time to get involved. And with our two daughters both in college (TWO college tuitions) we thought we had even more reasons for not getting involved financially!

At this point that we tried something we had really never done as a husband and wife (other than say prayers before bed with our daughters when they where younger) which was to pray together. We used the Moving by Faith prayer guide both individually, and as a couple, and quite simply, it opened our hearts to letting God work His plan in our lives. It sounds cliché, but it is true. Over the next several months, we grew closer together as husband and wife, and grew in our relationship with God. And yes, we did make a financial commitment to the new church building, but even more important than that, we honestly strengthened our marriage relationship, and began to further grow in our relationship with God. What started out between us as a discussion about whether or not we wanted to donate to a new church building, turned into both of us being baptized in September at Menahaunt Beach, joining a Wednesday night small group (with a bunch of terrific people!) and finding ways - both small and big - to live fully for God everyday. God used the Moving By Faith Campaign in ways far beyond just building a new building, He has used it in our lives to bring us closer to Him each and every day.”
