Fruits of the Holy Spirit (Patience) – Humbly Making Allowances for Others - Tuesday, May 14th
Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Ephesians 4:1-2
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Our Ephesians passage instructs us to be patient with each other and we will be if we live a life that corresponds to our calling from God. Patience really is a part of God's calling for our lives. Notice that humility is mentioned just before the instruction to be patient with each other. Sometimes we are just too proud to be patient with other people. Our passage equates patience with others as making allowance for each other’s faults. This is a pretty high calling, isn't it? Does it seem too high for you? Remember that we are talking about the fruit of the Spirit and not the fruit of you.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, grant me the humility I need to see how truly helpless I am to be patient. Deliver me from impatience and teach me to rely completely on the Spirit to produce the fruit of patience in my life. Amen!
