"God's Guidance and Fulfillment" - Saturday, September 10th
I will bless the Lord who has counseled me; indeed, during the night I reflect and learn. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken …. You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever. Psalm 16:7-8, 11
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Becoming one who is more surely guided and directed by God as you walk with Him down the path of life has been the goal for this week. As you have considered the things we have explored concerning God’s guidance each day and responded to Him appropriately, it is hoped that God has richly blessed you in your journey of learning to live fully for him. Evidently, King David, the Psalmist, had experienced God’s blessing is this regard to such an extent that he is compelled to say, “I will bless the Lord.”
The things we face in life, the pressure to act, and the urgency of decision making can really shake us up sometimes. King David confidently proclaimed “The Lord has counseled me” and “I have set the Lord continually before me” and “because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” David genuinely believed that his life was going to turn out the way God wanted it to turn out. He had no doubt that God’s purposes for his life would be fulfilled and that as a result, it would be a wonderfully “fulfilling” life that God gave to him. This is all thoroughly expressed in the last part of our passage where David says, “You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”
How about you? Do you believe that going forward your life is going to turn out the way God wants it to? Do you believe that God’s purposes for your life will be fulfilled and that as a result it will be a wonderfully “fulfilling” life that God gives to you? Try out David’s words for yourself: “You will make known to me the paths of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” If these words don’t quite seem to fit you yet, try this: write them down and over the next couple of weeks, say them to God in your daily prayer time. God will surely lead you into a lifestyle where these things become your true experience. There really is no better life than the one God has in mind for you! God really will fully lead you into the life he has in mind for you! You really can give yourself to God and the life he is waiting to unfold in your actual experience each and every day.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, “You will make known to me the paths of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forever.” I believe, help my unbelief. I give myself to you and all you have in mind for me. Teach me how to seek you, hear from you, and follow you more fully and completely. I love you. I worship you. I yield to you. May You truly be glorified by the life I live. Amen!
