God's Unconditional Love - the Deepest Need of Our Heart, Life, and Mission - Friday, January 13th
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery …. For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:1, 13-14
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
God’s unconditional love for us is a love we can never earn and it is a love that we can never lose. It is here that we find the freedom to live fully for God. The mission of our church is all about helping people live fully for God. It needs to become absolutely clear to us that we will only be able truly to live fully for God when we truly come to grips with God’s unconditional love. The deepest needs of our hearts will never be reached and met through the pursuit of trying to earn the love of others. Perhaps conditional love is not really love at all. God does not offer a love that has conditions or can be earned. We begin with His freely bestowed love through Jesus Christ and then we are able to live in ways that please Him. May God’s unconditional love bring to us the freedom we need to live more fully for Him than ever before.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, I am so grateful for the ways your unconditional love is transforming what I consider important in life. Because of my growing trust in your unconditional love, I have a growing trust that your ways and the lifestyle that goes with them are truly good and for my best. I truly believe I have been set free to go forward living more fully for you than ever before. Amen!
