God’s Unconditional Love – the Difference Maker in All of Life - Monday, January 9th

The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. As for man, his days are like grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, and its place acknowledges it no longer. 1But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children. Psalm 103:8-17

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

A woman was married to a man who was demanding, perfectionistic, and ungrateful. The man felt it was his job to direct his wife and make sure she served his needs and those of his household faithfully. Each day before he left for work he would leave her a list of the things he expected her to accomplish. When he returned home each day the woman had to give an accounting to him and often he was exacting, critical, and harsh. The woman, having endured the man’s controlling ways for years was downtrodden, depressed, and quite weary. The man suffered a heart attack and died. Later on the woman met a man who was kind and gentle. They were married and the woman thrived under the patient, supportive, and encouraging attention of her new husband. One day several years later the woman came upon one of her first husband’s demanding lists. To her surprise they were all the things she was now doing willingly and happily in the context of her new marriage. She thought about the difference and realized that now in an atmosphere of unconditional love she was joyfully and freely choosing to accomplish things that would bless her husband and their household. Unconditional love makes all the difference. When we find ourselves pressured by the conditional love of others, God, with the unconditional love He has for us, can set us free. This is the focus of this week’s Devotionals.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, I know you love me but I don’t always let you love me. Help me to enter in to the full and complete experience of your unconditional love. Revolutionize me as your unconditional love flows freely into every bit of my being and life. Help me to trust you and grant that I can go forward in full confidence and assurance of your amazing unconditional love. Amen!
