Good Stewards of God’s Grace - The True Calling of Every Believer - Monday, April 8th
Note: At church and in these Devotionals we are on an adventure called 90 Days with Jesus that will culminate at Easter. Throughout this adventure we are considering the amazing stories of the Master Teacher and Storyteller, Jesus Christ. This week’s Devotionals will not specifically deal with this week’s story. The story of the “Mustard Seed” helps us “picture the kingdom of God” in good and helpful ways through the image of the tiny mustard seed growing into a great tree that increasingly influences and blesses the world. Our mission is to bless the world with the kind of love and care God gives to us as His children. When the opportunity comes, we share the message of salvation with those God is using our lives to bless. What an exciting thing it is to be a part of a spiritual kingdom that is influencing and winning the world one person at a time as individual lives are touched and reclaimed for God. We hope this week’s Devotionals will serve to compliment the story of the “Mustard Seed” and be a blessing to you.
Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2
As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
One of the great and overarching spiritual realities of existence is the fact that all down through the ages God has been building a spiritual kingdom. The centerpiece of God’s kingdom building plan is His people. God chooses to use those who are already reached for his kingdom to advance his kingdom. With every individual participating, God’s people function as a support system for each other that develops them into ones who reach additional people for His spiritual kingdom. This calling God has for his people is often called the priesthood of all believers. There is no special class of people in God’s kingdom. Everyone is called to participate in the building of God’s kingdom.
The impact God has for His kingdom people happens both on an individual and collective basis and has everything to do with why we are called the body of Christ. While each individual is used to build the kingdom, there are a multitude of ways that we do that in partnership with fellow kingdom members. Being used by God for the building of His kingdom is our primary calling in life and it is a stewardship from Him that each of us must embrace and fulfill. The apostle Paul reminds us that it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy. Being helped to become good stewards of the grace of God is the focus of this week’s Devotionals.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, thank you for your amazing grace that has provided and bestowed on me eternal salvation. I need to have the reality that I am both a beneficiary and an agent of grace become central in my life. Please bring this about this week, Lord. When all is said and done, I want it to be found that I was truly a good and trustworthy steward who served the kingdom fully. Amen!
