"Great Expectations & Completion" - Tuesday, June 28th
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and my your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Today's thoughts from today's verse:
Today’s Scripture mentions the second coming of Christ. In his first coming Jesus Christ became the Savior of the world. As the Savior he enters into the hearts of believing people one by one to govern their lives and put everything in order right down to the last detail. In his second coming Jesus Christ will become the King of the world. As the King of the world Jesus Christ will govern the world and put everything in order right down to the last detail. Jesus Christ will truly be King of kings and Lord of lords. He will change the world when he returns to earth someday, but between now and then he continues the work of changing us. But what will be the end result in our lives when Jesus Christ returns?
Our passage speaks of our being sanctified entirely and being preserved complete without blame in spirit and soul and body. That’s a lot of change for us to experience and it will be a complete and entire change. Ephesians 1:4 says, “he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before him.” God truly has great expectations for us. God’s great expectations for us began before the foundation of the world and will be fully realized at the second coming of Christ when he comes back to wrap everything up. Our passage concludes with these wonderful words, “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, I realize that I tend to view my faith as a component of my life. It is just one more thing to address and manage. But I see that it really is everything. My faith is my relationship with you and you are not a component of my life. It is not even a matter of letting you be first in my life. It is a matter of letting you be the center of my life around which everything else revolves. So, here I am completely and entirely for you to have and to change completely and entirely. I don’t know how you will do it, but I give myself to you for it. Oh, how I look forward to the day when I will stand before you holy and blameless and I know it will be only because you faithfully bring it to pass. Amen!
