Is there an age restriction for the Cape Cod Church summer internship?
Our internships are ideally suited for college-age students and recent graduates, but we will consider other applications.
Are Cape Cod Church internships paid?
Yes! Interns are expected to work 30 hours a week, and are paid $11 an hour.
Do I need to have a personal vehicle to intern at Cape Cod Church?
All interns are required to have a driver's license. Public transportation is limited on Cape Cod, and a personal vehicle is highly recommended.
What about housing?
As an added program benefit, Cape Cod Church will provide housing for all interns through host families in our church community.
Am I allowed to work a second job?
Interns may desire to work a part-time job in the community, outside of their work at Cape Cod Church. We are happy to coordinate your weekly schedule to allow this, provided you reserve Sunday mornings and other agreed-upon weekly responsibilities in your schedule.
Cape Cod Church may also be able to connect interns with job opportunities in the community upon request.
What does a typical week at Cape Cod Church look like?
Your weekly schedule will depend on the specific area of ministry you serve in, but interns can expect to work on Sunday mornings from 8 AM to 1 PM, and an additional 25 hours during the week. Our offices are open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but interns should expect to have some weekend and evening commitments.
Can I apply to more than one ministry area?
Yes! We want to offer a flexible program that is best suited to your gifts, and are also willing to adjust internship responsibilities to meet multiple areas of interest. Look out for a question in our application about "other skills or interests" to begin that conversation.
The program doesn't quite meet the qualifications of my college practicum/internship requirement. Should I still apply?
Yes! Our program specifications are not set in stone, and we may be able to adjust internship content and scheduling to meet your school requirements, should we offer you a position. We recommend that you note this ahead of time in your application so we can discuss any modifications in your interview.
Students from Gordon College fulfilling their practicum will have the opportunity to work on an additional ministry presentation over the course of the summer to fulfill their 400 hours of service.
I've submitted my application. Now what?
Our leadership team will review applications on a rolling basis before the April 2 deadline, particularly for students with a looming practicum deadline.
Favorable applicants will be asked to enter a secondary Skype interview process. Final job offers are expected to be made by or before April 15.
Gordon College students with an April 1 practicum deadline can expect to hear back prior to that date, but we ask that you note this in your application.
I still have questions. Who can I talk to?
Our Internship Coordinator Brittany Feldott will be happy to answer any inquiries you may have! You can reach her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
