Kingdom People – Bring Heaven to Earth - Monday, September 24th
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Pray, then, in this way: “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.” For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. Matthew 6:6-15
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
God’s kingdom is present whenever there are people present who are committed to being surrendered to God and His kingdom purposes. These are the ones who genuinely pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” If God’s will were being done entirely on earth just like it is in heaven, then His kingdom would be manifest everywhere and it would be heaven on earth. Those who make the commitment of surrender to God and His kingdom purposes are ones who walk in God’s presence and whose lives, as a result, become connecting points between heaven and earth. The more connecting points there are, the more His kingdom comes. Kingdom people are not perfect but they are those who are in touch with the King and allow Him to help them keep focused on having lives that advance the spread on His kingdom on earth. For them confession and forgiveness are God’s means for keeping them on track with their commitment to being surrendered to Him and His kingdom purposes.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, I do genuinely pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is heaven.” I pray that it would come from you to the whole world through your people everywhere. I know that means me, too. Transform me and make my life a true connecting point between heaven and earth. Make me clean, keep me close, use me to touch my world today with a bit of heaven. Amen!
