Meet The Architect
After an extensive search and review process that included conversations and interviews with many architectural firms, we have hired Architect Glenn Knowles from Boston, MA.
Glenn brings broad experience and a keen eye for church design to our project. The design for Cape Cod Church will be quite challenging - needing to create a building that fits the "look and feel" of Cape Cod - while reflecting the spirit and ethos of Cape Cod Church. Beyond that is the need to create interior spaces that dream big about what ministry space could look like.
Glenn also recognizes our need to work on a strict budget and have a building that can be built significantly by our own congregation (self-performed).
Over the coming weeks we will begin to gather ideas from our ministry teams of volunteers, leaders, and staff on what ministry space "could be". Given our current cramped spaces, this will be an exciting process of looking forward, dreaming, planning, and strategizing about potential. Ultimately, we will create a ministry "brief" that gives the Architect a sense of who we are and what we do to guide him in the design process.

Glenn Knowles grew up in Texas, where he attended the University of Texas at Arlington. At college, he met his wife, Dianne, while she was attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They were married in 1988.
Glenn did well in undergraduate studies and won awards in several national and international design competitions. In 1991, they moved to Cambridge, MA., where Glenn attended Harvard's Graduate School of Design. Following graduation, Glenn worked for a nationally known design firm in Boston until 1998, when he felt called to do more community development-oriented work. At that time, he switched to CBT Architects in order to design elderly and low-income housing.
In 2003, Dianne and Glenn moved with their two daughters, Alexandra and Haven, to Dorchester. Glenn is heavily involved with the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative in Roxbury. In 2007, Glenn left CBT and went out on his own to in order to work primarily with churches.
Glenn is the principal Architect for his firm (Glenn Knowles & Associates). He has worked on a number of larger commercial projects (Cambridge Vineyard Church, Mandarin Oriental Boston, 704 Main St. Falmouth, and others). His firm has a determined focus on faith-based building projects and advancing the work of Christ in New England.
Glenn's current and most recent projects include the South Shore Community Church relocation project and the Lion of Judah Church project. His experience in renovating traditional sacred spaces (Cambridge Vineyard, former Catholic Church renovation) as well as designing projects for the 21st century (South Shore Community Church), coupled with his exposure to local architecture (South Shore Conservatory, 704 Main St. Falmouth) make him a perfect match for the Cape Cod Church project.
