Nursery ministry leader Phyllis Peacock and her team of volunteers strive to introduce children to the love of God through loving care, music, and when appropriate, Bible stories. Phyllis says, “It is not just babysitting. It’s an opportunity to work with parents andto provide support, as well as an opportunity to encourage Christ centered service for both adults and teens.”

As Cape Cod Church has grown, theinfant and toddler nurseries have become quite popular on Sunday mornings. Parents know the challenges of the limited space for the nurseries, as well as the confusion with the check-in and check-out process with the current space. And noise is always an issue given the proximity of the nurseries and cry room with the sanctuary.

These growing pains will hopefully be a thing of the past very soon thanks to the generosity of the Living Fully … Moving By Faith capital campaign donors. The new church building on Rt. 151 is slated to have a larger nursery/pre-school area that is separate from the sanctuary. There will be three designated areas for each stage of development: infant, toddler and pre-school. The space will have a designated registration area, office space, and a large cry room with a video feed from the sanctuary so parents will not miss the worship or message. The blessings of this new location will allow for unlimited potential for outreach to families, and those called to serve as volunteers within the Nursery Ministry.

As the Nursery Ministry grows, the need is greater for more volunteers to help with the children. Currently, there are 30 caregivers serving. There is a need for 10 new volunteers to join the ministry. This will allow caregivers to serve for one service once a month. When the Rt. 151 location opens, the Nursery Ministry will need 60 or more volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact office@capecodchurch.com.
