So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (NRSV)
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Jesus is who he is and who he is makes all the difference. He is God the Son. He is God the Son in the flesh. He is God the Son in the flesh who was crucified. He is God the Son in the flesh who was crucified and raised from the dead. Jesus Christ being all this makes him the provider of eternal salvation. Regardless of the story of our lives, Jesus comes to any and all us and offers all that he is for all that we need. When we embrace Christ we become recipients of eternal salvation. Now the story of our lives is a story of redemption and reconciliation to God and according to today’s Scripture we are ambassadors of Christ.
In reality this is a love story. It is a story of how God’s love keeps spreading. Amazingly, we are the means for how God’s love keeps spreading. So, as ambassadors of Christ we are ambassadors of love. We spread his love by telling the story of God’s love and provision of redemption. We spread his love by telling our story of being reached by God’s love and provision of redemption. There is another way we spread God’s love that provides the environment for our being able to spread his love in these other ways. We are talking about loving our neighbor. Telling others about God’s love and provision of redemption without genuinely loving them from the heart doesn’t really make sense, it doesn’t really work, and it really isn’t right.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, thank you for reaching me with your love and provision of redemption. Revolutionize my life now in the way you’ve had in mind all along. Help me to enter your love in a way that is full and deep so that others will experience my love in a way that is full and deep. May it be that how I live out being an ambassador for Christ is forever changed. Amen!
