I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Today's thought from today's verse:
We move on this week to joy and peace in our list of the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5:22-23. Our Romans passage speaks of hope. Godly hope is not a "hope so" kind of thing but a "know so" kind of thing. Hope is a confident "knowing" that God will bring something about on our behalf. Do you have a confident "knowing" that God will bring about an abundance of fruit in your life? Trusting in God and overflowing with confident hope go together. The power of the Holy Spirit at work in us is a beautiful thing. When it comes to joy and peace there is a back and forth dynamic with hope. Hope fosters joy and peace. Joy and peace foster hope.
Today's prayer response from today's thought:
Lord, I ask that throughout this week you will speak to my heart in regard to joy and peace. Help me to keep in mind what I have already learned in general terms about the fruit of the Spirit. Help me to trust. Fill me with hope. Make me a person of joy and peace. Amen!
