But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23
God created us to be fruitful in ways that are multifaceted. But, we all go astray, go our own way, and have lives that yield sin instead of fruit. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ and receive the forgiveness of sins, we become a temple of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that produces fruit in our lives. With God having made his home in our hearts through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we are able to live lives that are fruitful and productive. There are nine fruits of the Holy Spirit listed in our Galatians passage and we will look at all of them in the weeks ahead. This week we explore "love" and how the Holy Spirit produces it in our lives.
Lord, prepare my heart for the work you want to do through this series. Help me to understand the work of the Holy Spirit and the drastic difference he can make in my life. Speak to my heart and transform me into your image more fully and completely than ever before. Amen!
