This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man that he should bear the yoke in his youth …. Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both good and ill go forth? Why should any living mortal, or any man, offer complaint in view of his sins? Let us examine and probe our ways, and let us return to the Lord. We lift up our heart and hands toward God in heaven. Lamentations 3:21-27, 37-41
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
What a great declaration of hope by Jeremiah in the Lamentations passage above. And what a great description of how to live life “On Top of the World” when you are in the middle of having your world turned upside down. God is our portion and His lovingkindness and compassions are new every morning. We can join Jeremiah in saying emphatically, “great is Your faithfulness” Lord God. With fullness of hope, let’s lift up our hearts and hands toward God in heaven and “just keep peddling.”
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, I lift up my heart and hands to you. Thank you for your faithfulness to me. You are truly my hope. I trust you in every way. Right now, in the middle of everything, I reaffirm my commitment to living my life in an “On Top of the World” kind of way. I am going to “just keep peddling” as we go forward in tandem. You are my portion, Lord. I am filled with hope and your amazing love and compassion. Who could ask for anything more. Amen!
