"Our Confidence In Times Of Distress" - Tuesday, June 7th

My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth. Psalm 108:1-5

Today's thoughts from today's verse:

In today’s Scripture the Psalmist says to God, “May your glory shine over all the earth.” Picture the warm and comforting rays of the sun shining over the earth. The Psalmist is asking God to shine his glory over all the earth in the same healing way the sun does. The Psalmist knows all about trials and troubles the produce distressing circumstances in his life. When distressing circumstances come into the Psalmist life he puts his confidence in God. He knows there is a world of people out there that are in the middle of distressing circumstances. He believes that if God will shine his glory on this troubled world many will join him in putting their confidence in God and will be able to speak to God like he does: “My heart is confident in you, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! Wake up, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.” “Our confidence in times of distress” must be placed squarely on God. This was the key for the Psalmist, it is the key for us, and it is the key for the whole world.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, thank you for shining your glory on my life. I praise you for your unlimited love that never fails and for your unlimited faithfulness. Continue to help me to rely confidently on you in times of distress. You deserve unlimited exaltation, Lord, and I want to be a part of doing that in a full and complete way. Amen!
