"Reaching the Unreached"

Beforehand: Be sure to check out our Missionary Speaker’s message online if you were not able to catch it on Sunday morning.

Below is the outline of our Missionary Speaker’s message.

The Deep Six Study follows.

“Reaching the Unreached”

1 – Definitions

2 – Introductory Facts

3 – The Condition of the Unreached – Romans 15:20-21; Genesis 12:3; Revelation 5:9

4 – What Can I Do?

Deep Six

Introduction – Our emphasis for the next two weeks is on Missions. While this week’s Deep Six Study fits in with that emphasis, it does not correspond to this week’s message in the way it normally does because the points of the message do not lend themselves to that. The three parts of the Deep Six study are borrowed from a Deep Six Study from a couple of years ago. However, the conclusion does correspond to the fourth point of our Missionary Speaker’s message. Also, the Related Scriptures at the end are all ones that fit in with our Missionary Speaker’s message.

Part 1

Acts 1:6-9 – “So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, ‘Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?’ He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.’ And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.”

Comment - Missions is not a human thing, but rather it is a supernatural thing. It is all about God and His work of building His Kingdom. As ones who have been reached for the Kingdom, we get to join God in the His amazing mission of reaching people for the Kingdom. With God out in front leading the way, “Missions” becomes an incredible adventure of discovering both how God is at work in the world around us and the part He has for us in that work.

Question # 1 – Can you think of several ways the power of the Holy Spirit is essential to people being reached for the Kingdom?

Question # 2 – How do you feel about it being said that God is on a mission and we merely join Him in that mission?

Part 2

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 - “For consider your calling brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong., and the base things of the world and despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, ‘Let Him who boasts, boast in the Lord.’”

Comment - God does not need special people with special abilities to accomplish His purposes, but rather He wants ordinary people through whom He will be able to do extraordinary things. Ordinary people empowered by God Himself to accomplish the extraordinary “mission” of winning the world to Christ is God’s “Vision” of how to set the world aright.

Question # 3 – Why do you think God has chosen those who are viewed by the world as foolish, weak, base, and despised to be His agents for impacting the world?

Question # 4 – What is the significance of the phrase, “by His doing you are in Christ Jesus” and what bearing does it have on how we operate as God’s agents?

Part 3

Matthew 28:18-20 - “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”

Comment - This is a major statement about the “mission” God has given to His people. We are called to “make disciples.” This is accomplished by reaching and teaching. Those who are obedient disciples engage in the art of making disciples through reaching the lost and then bringing them to the point of obedience concerning all that Christ commanded.

Question # 5 – What is a disciple and how is one made?

Question # 6 – How can you more fully embrace and pursue God’s call for you to participate in the exciting missions adventure of making disciples?

Conclusion

Pray – “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.” Colossians 2:2-4

Give – “You yourselves also know, Philippians, that at the first preaching of the gospel, after I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you alone; for even in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once for my needs. Not that I seek the gift itself, but I seek for the profit which increases to your account. But I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you have sent, a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” Philippians 4:15-20

Go – “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” Mark 16:15

Yes. We need to make disciples. That means tceahing them all that Jesus taught. If we do make disciples and most of us don't we teach them just some of what Jesus taught. If we truly understand what Jesus lived and taught, we would be living radically, making a difference in our homes, neighborhoods and around the globe!

I really appreciate this question and the answers that have already been given. In my own journey of the last four years I have come to understand prayer much differently than I used to. Previously I understood it more in terms of petition asking and begging God to do things and seeing little result. But our journey into deliverance ministry quickly showed that healing prayer was much more than just asking God to do things. Rather, we found that soul issues like forgiveness were critical to seeing people find healing and deliverence. In time, we came to realize that prayer meant muc more than petition real prayer meant deeply interacting with people, helping them forgive and renounce strongholds, and commanding the sickness and demonic to get out. When we did this, we saw much more healing happen! I also think there is an aspect of healing prayer which is strongly connected to the outpouring of God s presence in a room, a building, a city. For instance, I am intrigued that Jesus and the Apostles seemingly did not take people through a healing process like Sozo. Rather, I see them command the illness to leave. Jesus carried an extraordinary anointing of the Kingdom presence, as did the Apostles, and he didn t have to Sozo people, he could just command it to happen. I believe this is a dimension that is very much available to us, but it is part of the mystery of revival. I have friends who have been in meetings where the anointing for healing was so strong that people were healed at a word, and everyone present was healed. Yet, the same people, at other meetings had much lower success in healing. Command and authority yes. Process yes. And at times the dramatic, manifest power of God where healing is as easy as saying be healed. I look forward to seeing more of all of this!!
