Responding To Distress – Prepared Ahead by God’s Deep Love - Wednesday, November 20th
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:14-19
If you are slack, in the day of distress your strength is limited. Proverbs 24:10
Today's thoughts from today's verse:
Experiencing God's presence is synonymous with experiencing his love. We have so much to learn about letting God love us in our actual daily experience of living life. Most of us realize that we have hardly scratched the surface of experiencing God's love as fully as we might. The image of roots and growth are so compelling. Growing spiritual roots that go down deep into God's love, so that we experience the full and joyful life that grows up within us as a result is something we must give ourselves to when we are not in the middle of distressing circumstances. This must be our daily practice. If we are slack about pursuing this kind of relationship with God, then when the day of distress arrives, we will not be prepared.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, I know this is the desire of your heart and your eternal plan for me. Grant that I experience your love in full measure so that my spiritual roots grow deep, my life wonderfully reflects the fullness of the growth you desire for me, and I am fully prepared for the distressful circumstances that come my way. Amen.
