"Resting in God's Absolute Sovereignty" - Wednesday, August 31st

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all …. Bless the Lord, all you works of His, in all places of His dominion; bless the Lord, O my soul! Psalm 103:19, 22

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

The passengers on an airplane caught up in a severe thunderstorm were quite overwhelmed and feared for their lives; that is, except for one young girl who seemed oblivious to the storm as she sat calmly reading a book, legs tucked up under her, without fear or worry. After safely landing the young girl was asked how it could be that she could be so brave during the storm when all the adults we scared to death? She responded, “My daddy’s the pilot and he’s taking me home.” The adults were caught up in the reality of the storm, but the little girl was caught up in the reality of who was flying the airplane. The adults were overwhelmed and stressed out because of the storm, but the little girl was unworried and at peace because her daddy was in control of the airplane.

You have a “Heavenly Daddy” who is absolutely in control. Your Heavenly Father is flying the “airplane” of your life through all the storms of your life and He is taking you home to spend forever with Him in heaven where there will be no more storms or anything that isn’t just right. Your Heavenly Father is not just in control of the airplane of your life, he is control everything around you, including each and every storm you face. But there is more. In addition, to being the Pilot and the Master of the airways, your Heavenly Father is with you in an amazingly close and abiding way to help you rest in the reality of His sovereign control over everything.

Today’s Scripture says, “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.” This Scripture begs an all important question each of must ask and answer, “Am I truly resting in God’s absolute sovereignty? Again, if we had a “fretbit” to monitor and reveal our actual “fret level,” the answer would be clear. Can you hear the gentle prompting of your Heavenly Father's voice, “I want you to rest in me? Let me show you how to rest in all the things that are true of me that come from me to you in our relationship. At this very moment let me lead you into resting fully in my ‘unfailing love,’ my ‘complete forgiveness,’ and my ‘absolute sovereignty.’”

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, at your prompting I let go, sit back, and “rest” in you. I do believe you are in charge and in control. As one or your “works,” I let go off all fear and fretting and I rest in your “absolute sovereignty.” Lord, with this response of faith, I bless you with all my soul. Amen!
