The Birth of Christ - Divine Explanations and Divine Solutions - Monday, December 10th

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. 19 And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. 20 But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” 24 And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, 25 but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus. Matthew 1:18-25

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

Each of this week's Devotionals will have the passage above but with a different part highlighted. This passage from the Gospel of Matthew sets forth for us some of the detail involved in the Birth of Christ. Joseph is front and center in the account and from today's highlighted portion we see that he is afraid to take Mary as his wife. All that Joseph knows is that the woman he is engaged to is pregnant and he is not the father. What else can he conclude but that Mary has been involved with another man and so it seems quite reasonable for him to be afraid to take Mary as his wife.

We will go on in our Devotionals this week to explore the virgin birth of Christ. But for now let's join Joseph in the spot he's in for a moment. He is facing a severely difficult situation with only human explanations and human solutions. How often in our lives we face the challenges that come our way with only human explanations and human solutions. The birth of Christ was a supernatural event filled with Divine explanations and Divine solutions. We are way on the other side of the birth of Christ and if there is anything we should know by now as believers in Christ, it is that he came to make a supernatural difference in our lives. Being a believer in Christ is supposed to be all about having lives that are filled with Divine explanations and Divine Solutions. What are you facing this Christmas season that needs Divine intervention? God can make a supernatural difference. He probably won't send an angel to intervene on your behalf, but you already have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and he is pretty good at providing Divine explanations and Divine solutions.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, forgive me for my tendency to approach life solely on human terms. Teach me all I need to learn from Joseph in the Christmas story of Scripture. I really do believe that I am indwelled by the Holy Spirit and so today I lean hard on you for whatever Divine explanations and Divine solutions you want to bring to my life and circumstances. I trust in you and rest in you. Amen!

Hi! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I
can figure things out pretty quick. I'm thinking about creating my own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

provider at a honest price? Thanks, I appreciate it!

A motivating discussion is definitely worth comment. There's no doubt that that you need to write more about this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but usually people don't talk about such subjects.

To the next! Cheers!!

Have you ever thought about including a little
bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and
all. But think of if you added some great photos or videos to give your posts more, "pop"!
Your content is excellent but with images and clips, this
website could definitely be one of the greatest in its field.
Amazing blog!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and
gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear."
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
