The Challenge of Temptation – Choosing God’s Glory for the Remainder of Life - Friday, August 2nd

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

We human beings are a funny lot. When it comes to all the pleasant things life holds out to us, we say, “life is too short.” With all the tough things life throws at us, we say, “life is too long.” God holds out to us the right things he has in mind for our lives and we need to take hold of them fully and completely. To be able to do so we must set aside our “too short” and “too long” ways of thinking because they reflect the reality that we are still in charge of our lives. Our passage says that we are no longer our own. If this reality has taken hold, then our primary desire will be to take whatever time we have left to pursue fully the righteous life God wants for us.

Really becoming convinced that we are no longer our own because we are bought with the price of the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, will go a long way to our having and living out the commitment of glorifying God in every moment of every day that we are here on this earth in the flesh. Letting God help us master sin and letting Him produce His righteousness in us is really the essence of what it means to glorify Him. May God’s grace prevail in our lives to this end.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, I am trusting you for the wisdom I need to live a truly righteous life in all the remaining days you have in store for me. I am so thankful that more and more I am becoming a faith-filled follower who is aligned with your righteousness and consistently moving along the path of genuine Christian maturity. I know you will give me victory over temptation and sin so that you are glorified throughout the rest of my time here on earth. Amen!
