(The format for today’s Devotional is different from the usual. Running down the left hand margin are the words to John 3:16. Each of the more prominent words of this verse has an additional verse to go with it)
God - Isaiah 45:21-22 – “Declare and set forth your case; indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.
loved - 1 John 4:9-10 – “By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
world - John 1:9-10 – “There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.”
gave - James 1:17 – “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”
His only begotten
Son - Hebrews 1:1-3 – “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
believes - John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”
in Him shall
not perish - 2 Peter 3:9 – “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
eternal life - 1 John 5:13 – “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

A Prayer of Believing
More than just a baby, Jesus you came to be my savior. Today, I confess my need for a Savior – for the forgiveness that can only be found in Jesus Christ. I believe that you, Jesus Christ, are God, born into a humble manger to redeem me. Your grace and mercy are the greatest gifts, and I accept them. Guide me as I seek to follow you and your words. Amen!
