"The Protection of God's Faithfulness" - Wednesday, September 14th
But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Today’s Scripture mentions the “evil one.” We do have an enemy, Satan, who seeks to interfere with our spiritual welfare. He has an arsenal of weapons he employs against us. Most of them utilize the physical world we live in to influence us in ways that trip us up. We are constantly tempted to allow things into our lives that shouldn’t be there at all or to allow things that should have a lesser place in our lives to predominate. As happens far too often, we fail to recognize how greatly we are influenced or how much we have given in.
Gradually we become more concerned about our “physical welfare” than our “spiritual welfare.” The life we have constructed for ourselves becomes all important and our “faith” merely an add on. Our “faith” is reduced to looking to God to “protect” us from the bad things that interfere with our good life as we become desensitized to the commitment God has to protect us from all that interferes with our “spiritual welfare.” You can be assured that no matter what, God is at work addressing your “spiritual welfare.” Our passage promises that “He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”
This promise rests on the fact that “the Lord is faithful.” Providing “spiritual protection” that assures our “spiritual welfare” is the faithful work of God almighty. While it is true that the enemy of soul seeks to undermine our “spiritual welfare” at every turn, remember, “Greater is He that is in you, than he who is in the world.” The protection of God’s faithfulness means that there will never be a moment in your life when he is not providing all the strength and protection you need. Your job is to seek God with all your heart so that you are fully aware of, fully aligned to, fully counting on, and fully resting in the faithfulness of God.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, thank you for the protection of your faithfulness. I want my faith in you to be central in my life and not just an add on. The concern for my “physical welfare” is strong. Please make my concern for my “spiritual welfare” stronger. Make me more fully aware of the schemes of the evil one so that I can avail myself more fully of the strengthen and protection you “faithfully” provide. Amen!
