The Upward Call of God - Going Forward in Confidence and Victory - Friday, March 17th
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:29-32
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Colossians 3:12-13
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life …. Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Jude 1:20-21, 24-25
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Oh, how much we need to let the words of these Scriptures soak into our souls! The problem of anger and rage really is greater than we think and runs deeper than we know. God’s provision of his wisdom and his Spirit should overwhelming convince us of the unequivocal desire and commitment he has for us to be delivered from anger and rage. Our subject this week, as they say, is not rocket science. God expects something different from us and we must come to Him, fall at His feet and let Him produce the difference he is waiting to bring about in our lives. This is the life he has called us to and now and always going forward we must heed the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, thank you for the encouragement of your Word. I want to reach higher and take hold of what you expect for my life. I choose to heed your upward call by coming to you, falling at your feet, and trusting you to make the difference that will give me the victory of compassion and gentleness instead of anger and rage in my life. Amen!
