When they heard it, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones, and He was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the center of the court. Straightening up, Jesus said to her, “Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?” John 8:9-10
This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 1:5-2:2
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
Just as people who walk in the kingdom move away from inflicting pain on others (throwing stones), they stop inflicting pain on themselves as well. They are not offended at their own sin, they are just plain sorry for it. They do not get upset that they need forgiveness, they gratefully receive it. They do not hold grudges against themselves for they know they have no personal goodness apart from Christ’s indwelling and the righteousness He brings to their lives. What a blessing it is to be transparent and current with God. When God is allowed consistently to wash through the hearts and lives of His people they are able to go about living life feeling fresh and clean with a wonderful sense of spiritual vitality. These are gifts that come to those who embrace surrender and dependence on the God who dwells in the hearts and lives of his people.
Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, how very much I get caught up in myself. I can see that getting more and more to where I need to be will come about as I am less absorbed in myself and more absorbed in you and your kingdom purposes. Teach me how to be transparent and current with you. Grant me a spiritual vitality that comes from feeling fresh and clean from your forgiving and healing presence. Amen!
