The Way of Love - Genuine, Brotherly, and Humble Regard for Everyone - Friday, September 29th
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. Romans12:9-16
Today's thoughts from today's verses:
It is only by God’s mercy that we are saved and it is only by His mercy that we surrender. Through surrender God is able to take up His rightful place at the center of our lives and there He fills us up with His love which transforms us and then overflows into the lives of those around us. Since this is all God’s doing, it is only by His mercy that it happens. And if it is only by His mercy that it happens, then there is no room for boasting. And if there is no room for boasting, there is no room for anything but serving others with genuine love and acceptance. We must always remember that this kind of life can only come about if it is God’s doing in the outworking of the intimate love relationship we consistently experience with him on a daily basis.
Today ‘sprayer response from today's thoughts:
Lord, the “way of love” is the way I want to live my life. Teach me how to experience more fully our intimate relationship of love. May I regularly bask in your transforming love while all the while having a deep sense of surrender to you and an abiding sense of love for you. As I humbly regard and serve others, may they be so moved by the genuine love and acceptance that overflows from my life into theirs, that they are drawn to you and your amazing provision of eternal salvation. I humbly bow before you in worship, dependence, and amazement. Amen!
