He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Ephesians 1:7
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. For the Lord protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. Psalm 34:17-22
Because God is rich in kindness and grace he gave up his own son for our sakes. The blood of Christ accomplished the forgiveness of sins and set us free from self to a new way of life. It is a freedom from the self that seeks to live in ways that are contrary to God's standards and it is a freedom from the self that tries to live according God's standards through personal effort and for personal glory. God wants us to call on him for help. A person with the kind of heart and spirit where sinful self has been broken and crushed is the person God is close to. This is the person God is able to help freely and rescue readily from the many troubles that life brings.
Lord, we acknowledge that your righteousness is a gift you freely bestow. Deliver us from self righteousness and personal spiritual achievement as well as from rebelleous desires and choices. Help us Lord to embrace fully the truth that any progress that has taken place in our lives in regard to righteous transformation and godly living is your work in us through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. Thank you for our redemption and transformation.
