Transformation in Christ - Victory and Not Defeat - Friday, February 10th

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected (kept) by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

I love the passage above. We were born again at a point in the past, we will be in heaven at a point in the future, and in between we are kept by the power of God. Between the start and the finish God has it all under control. We can rest in the assurance that He is protecting us and keeping us. This means that He is at work (even at this moment) bringing to us what we need for actually experiencing the exchange from ashes to beauty in our lives that we have longed for. I would only have ashes if I were alone on my own. But I am not alone and on my own. I am in Christ and Christ is in me. The understandings we have focused on this week can open the locks to the chains that keep us from experiencing the beauty promised and provided for us in Christ. The first key is believing that ashes are always ashes and that all beauty is received from Christ. The second key is believing in the forever connection we have God in Christ and that this grace connection is our true identity. So, cling to Christ and these realities: I don’t only have ashes as the bullies say. I have the beauty of Christ and I am therefore beautiful and I have been set free to “go and sin no more.”

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, thank you for the victory that is mine in Christ. May the keys of understanding that reveal my true identity release me from defeat and consistently move me from ashes to beauty on a daily basis. Help me to trust in your abiding presence and power more than ever before. Amen!
