Tuesday, February 23rd

(In preparation for today’s Devotional, read Joshua 14:10-13 and then check out the “The Deep Six Study” online. Go to www.capecodchurch.com/watch and click on “Discussion Notes.” Under “Message Highlights,” read highlight # 2)

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.But we must hold on to the progress we have already made. Philippians 3:12-16

Today's thoughts from today's verses:

Caleb and Paul sound so much alike in tone, don’t they? They both have that approach to life that says, “The Lord is with me, (therefore) I will ….” It is so easy for us to let the past (our wounds), the present (our circumstances), or the future (our fears) dictate what we can and can’t do. For us to say, “The Lord is with me, (therefore) I can’t ….” is absurd. Of course saying, “The Lord is with me, (therefore) I won’t ….” makes sense in regard to all that doesn’t belong in the life of one who is pressing on in a “promise land” kind of life.

A “promise land” kind of life is one that takes full possession of the life of Christ in you so that he fully possesses you. This is the path to living fully for God and having your life become all that he has in store for you. You really “can” press on in the pursuit of becoming all that Christ calls you to become and in doing all that he has called you to do. You really “can” live fully for God.

Today's prayer response from today's thoughts:

Lord, today I press on to possess the “promise land” experience of living fully through Jesus Christ. I believe I can and I will become and do all that you have called me to become and do. I possess all of Jesus Christ who possesses me for all that he wonderfully has in store for me. Amen!
