Home / Participate / Missions / Haiti Relief

On January 12th a massive earthquake hit Haiti causing untold damage. Working together we can make a difference. Cape Cod Church has been working with 2 missionary families on the Island of Hispaniola (Haiti is 1/2 of the Island) the Lane's and the Franklin's. Those families are mobilizing their churches and people to quickly help on the ground - We can help them!

Together we are calling this relief effort "The Bucket of Hope" . These will be 5 gallon buckets filled with enough essentials to support a family of 4 in Haiti for at least 3 days. (See list of items below). These items are quickly accessible in the neighboring Dominican Republic, making it possible to help people quickly. Each bucket costs approximately $60 US Dollars. These buckets will be brought directly to needy families in effected areas of Haiti.

This weekend in addition to our regular offering I want to ask you to give towards this offering in a generous way. By doing so we can make a difference in relieveing the suffering of people who we may never meet, but Jesus loves deeply.

Update from Wes Lane

Praying friends,

This will be short as we are on a shared connection. We are here in safe housing. We have transport, but are scrambling for fuel. No gas stations open. People are siphoning for generators and car. No Electric. Almost no water. Food supplies in city stretched, but plenty in the provinces. Can't find bread. Very few or no international lines. Most stores closed. Found a warehouse, but contract not finalized. Right now, fuel is a priority. We can't move around without it. Also, with stores closed, don't know when I will grab a phone, but that is on priority list. Unbelievable death, destruction and stench. Lots of confusion, sadness and despair. We will send more info when we can.
