The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; he guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house the Lord forever. Psalm 23:1-6
Today’s thoughts from today’s verses:
It comes down to whether we have experienced the major shift in perspective and focus that God desires so much to see come about in our lives. He wants us to understand that He does not exist for us, but rather we exist for Him. His miraculous provision is for those who get this right. God has special ways and means of caring for those who are seeking to put living fully for Him and His kingdom ahead of having their basic life needs met. Those who are on this track are learning to be content with the absence or abundance of provision and are always grateful for whatever He provides, be it miraculously or by more conventional means. But ultimately it is the joy of
giving sacrificially to help meet the needs of others that is the heartbeat of those who are truly engaged in living fully for God by faith.
Today’s prayer response from today’s thoughts:
Lord, I know you are fully at work getting me to where I really need to be. Where I need to be has everything to do with my embracing the fact that you do not exist for me, but rather that I exist for you. I understand that you will freely meet my true needs as I seek to live fully for you by walking in faith and joining you in the amazing adventure of serving your Kingdom by engaging in the ministry of meeting the true needs of others. Amen!
