Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. John 14:27

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Today’s thoughts from today’s verses:

In the Colossians verse the word “rule” means to arbitrate. So, in other words “peace” is the decision maker – it seals the deal. If we have the peace of Christ in a matter we can go forward and if we don’t have it we cannot go forward. However, there are several things we need to keep in mind. First, a “good feeling” is not necessarily the same as the “peace of Christ.” Such feelings are very subjective and can be extremely deceptive because our desires can dominate our decision-making endeavors. Second, the Lord does not separate Himself from His peace either. He doesn’t just disperse peace to you when your decision-making process lands you on the right decision.  As you commune and fellowship with Him and your connection with Him leads to His revealing His will to you in a matter, His peaceful presence fills the core of your inner being. Third, His peaceful presence is an affirmation (seals the deal) that concludes a process He has guided you through as you have walked in communion and fellowship with Him.

We have looked at “communication between God and us” in terms of the foundation on which it rests: our “relationship” with Him. “Being” with Him is the key to “hearing” from Him and this is what communion and fellowship with God is all about. This is not only the foundation for “communication between God and us,” it is the foundation for “living fully” for God because all true spiritual life is built on this foundation. And of course, this includes the spiritual living we do in our relationships with other people. It is my prayer that God will wonderfully help us seek Him like never before and rely on Him to teach us how to “be” with Him – how to be vitally connected to Him in our actual experience so that we live the rest of our days in true “communion and fellowship” with Him.

Today’s prayer response from today’s thoughts:

Lord, help me to want you more than what you can do for me. I know that I often look to you merely for the answers I hope you will communicate to me about how to proceed in some area of my life. I come to you today just to “be” with you in communion and fellowship. I do believe that everything else will flow out of our being together. I believe that in waiting for you and your special peace I will be led triumphantly. Lord, I exalt you and praise you. You are beautiful beyond description. You are mighty, wonderful, and amazing. I trust in you, yield to you, and rest in you. Amen!
