Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:1-6

He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. Colossians 1:18-20

Today’s thoughts from today’s verses:

The overall picture of what God has called us to as His people is quite clear and the passages above give us a fitting way to wrap things up. May God graciously help us walk as fully as possible in the manner to which He has called us. May the Lord Jesus Christ be honored, exalted, and genuinely looked to as the true head of the church at all times and in all ways. The Lord having first place is not a theoretical nicety. My prayer is that at this time in history God will have His way more than ever before with each of us, our church, and His people all around the world. God bless you and keep you!

Today’s prayer response from today’s thoughts:

Lord, I give you first place in my life. Show me and your people everywhere how to actually give you first place as the one and only head of the church. Deliver us from putting too much value on buildings, programs, numbers, income, human leaders, etc. I lift you up, Lord, in worship with a heart filled with desire to exalt and honor you alone. Have your way, Lord. Amen!
