We are hosting our second HELLO SUMMER BBQ for visiting J-1 students on Thursday, June 21st, 6pm at Cape Cod ChurchThese J-1's are college students coming from over 60 different countries who work summer jobs at local Dunks, restaurants, grocery stores and hotels.

Last summer , we had about 50 J-1 students join us for a night of food, fun and conversation. Subsequently we had J-1 students coming to church and connecting with church members over the summer, going to softball games, kayaking, going out for meals.  And Cape Cod Church stepped up in a big way to support Danni, the J-1 student from Macedonia who was severely injured after being struck by a car while walking by our old church. Thank you!

We are looking for volunteers who would like to help with this year's HELLO SUMMER barbecue - including providing rides, set up, cooking, desserts, clean up, table captains, etc. Mostly it’s a unique opportunity to serve and connect with these interesting students. There are also opportunities to house international students (with rental income), fix bikes, donate bikes and bike gear (helmets, safety vests and bike locks) and to get involved with other ongoing programs to connect with these students over the summer (kayaking, ice cream trips, Red Sox games, etc).

Please fill out this HELLO SUMMER volunteer form to learn more and indicate your interest in getting involved. If you have any questions, please contact Mark McSherry who is coordinating (
